Ekayāna Buddhism(ពុទ្ធសាសនាឯកយាន្ត)

Ekayāna is a Sanskrit word that can mean "one path" or "one vehicle". It is used both in the Upanishads and in the Buddhist scriptures, taking on different meanings and notions.

What is Ekayana Buddhism? Ekayana in the context of the Lotus Sutra, is the recognition of the three vehicles (sravaka, pratyekabuddha, bodhisattva) as truly all being “One Vehicle” on the path to Enlightenment. This is both a very unifying viewpoint and a reinforcement of the importance of appropriate teaching methods for the variety of practitioners we find in the world. In regard to this One Buddha Vehicle, Nikkyo Niwano wrote, “All teachings lead all beings to the state of Buddha. It may seem like there are two or three different teachings, but they are all because of the Buddha’s appropriate means to guide people according to their level of understanding. But in truth, there is only one.”

  1. sravaka, ព្រះសាវគ្គ

  1.  pratyekabuddha, ព្រះយាយកពុទ្ធ

  1.  bodhisattva ព្រះពោធិសត្វ
A BODHISATTVA IS an ordinary person who takes up a course in his or her life that moves in the direction of buddha. You're a bodhisattva, I'm a bodhisattva; actually, anyone who directs their attention, their life, to practicing the way of life of a buddha is a bodhisattva.
